The Mercury helps the wider community in challenging times

The Mercury helps the wider community in challenging times

The heart of our local community is at the centre of The Mercury. The Mercury in Romford donated several thousands of boxes of Dorset Cereals, Pistachio milk and natural immunity boosting drinks to the local and wider community.

The shopping centre usually has a packed schedule of events especially around Easter but of course these are put on hold during these challenging and unprecedented times, so staff rallied together and reached out to the local community, regular shoppers,  the elderly and vulnerable, NHS workers, people working in key roles and those that may not have time to shop and several different charities to support them.

The charities that received the donations included local charities Saint Francis Hospice, Havering Volunteer Centre, Queens Hospital, and in the wider community Caritas Anchor House in East London that supports the homeless and Chelmsford Food Bank in Essex.

Natalie Bays Deputy Centre Manager at The Mercury says; “The Mercury is a community shopping centre and it’s great that we’ve been able to help in anyway we can, boosting the immunity of people is so important at this time I’m just glad that we can help, even the smallest gesture can make the biggest difference to someone”.

Asda, Wilko and Poundland remain open at The Mercury. Follow The Mercury on Facebook or at www.themercurymall.co.uk.
